Powered by the Spanish skills learned at Academia Tica, our dear student Amelie shows us the importance of animal rescue centers in Costa Rica and highlights the vital role of volunteer work in these organisations.
Through her own experience working at Rescue Center Costa Rica @rescuecentercr in Alajuela province, we learn about a typical day in the life of a volunteer, and introduces us to Vanessa Lizano, the project founder and director.

A student favorite and one of our favorite activities at Academia Tica too 😊
Watching these new born Lora turtles make their way to the ocean has to be one of our top experiences in which we take part with our students during turtle releasing season in the Pacific coast. Every year, we are able to join the guys at Playa Bandera turtle nesting project that releases up to 2.000 baby turtles a year from May to December, after taking care of each nest for a couple of months. Turtle in Spanish is “tortuga”, but these are more “tortuguitas”! 🥹🐢

Our school pool and garden in Jacó Beach! 🌴💛🦜❤️🌴 Among those palm trees you can spot hummingbirds and other birds everyday, macaws and toucans when in season, and squirrels that will make a mess eating fruit 🐿🙂
