Internships in Costa Rica

Practice your language and get work experience! This is a no-brainer combination for all those that want to take their language to the next level after finishing their Spanish course.

This practical training program places university level students in enterprises or institutions to acquire work experience in their field of study in San José, or even outside of the Central Valley , for a period of 8 to 24 weeks.

It is non-paid work but a certificate of participation is issued and many universities accept this to fulfill the academic Internship requirement.

Internships at Academia Tica

For those of you who want to get involved in the workings of a Spanish school and keep practicing and learning in a work environment, we can offer internships/work exchange in our main offices in Coronado for the following fields:

  • Social media marketing
  • Photo and video production
  • Wordpress design and development
  • Organic agriculture
  • SEO

This option is available for students that can stay with us for a period of at least 6 weeks (2 weeks for intro course plus 4 weeks of internship/work). These work experiences include perks and special fees!

This program is available to those students who:

  • Have completed at least 4 university semesters.
  • Enroll for a minimum of a 2-week Academia Tica Spanish course if their Spanish level is upper intermediate, or for a minimum of a 4-week Spanish course if their level is lower intermediate prior to the begining of the internship.
  • Send their application to Academia Tica at least between 8 weeks prior to the start of the practical training.

More details

Before and during the work period, students will receive counseling from an Academia Tica staff. Work will also be supervised by a staff member of the enterprise or institution where the intership will take place.

It is important for the student to be able to adapt to a new work environment and style.

Requirements to apply

  • Your CV or Resumé, complete and updated
  • A motivation letter where you let us know what is your plan: dates, expectations, type of company where you would like to apply and the type of work you would like to perform. The more detailed and precise, the better we can place you in a company that fits your exact needs and expectations.
  • If needed, an application form (which will be provided)
  • Please note that we don’t place internships as stand alone, only for our Spanish students!
