Intern`s experience in urban project

Name: Miss Barbara Hausmann,  27, Architect.

started an Internship in the area of Urban Development on July 2, 2007 after completing a Spanish course with us.

Barbara was placed with a government organization that works close to the Housing Bureau here in Costa Rica.
On 01.Ago.07 Barbara made a presentation of her work results to an audience that included representatives from several Urban Development institutions, Academia Tica and the Head Minister of the Housing Bureau of Costa Rica.

The project is called Rincon Grande de Paves and Barbara's ideas and work was considered very important to define the general concept that will guide future development. Some of the work for this project is done with the collaboration of the European Union to the Costa Rican government.

As a result of this and other projects we are now actively seeking Interns in the Urban development, Architecture, Social work and related fields.

Intern’s testimonial

Name: Magdalena Borski, 24 years old, Germany.

University Major: Pedagogy, Sociology and Spanish,
Friedrich-Alexander University

Host Company: DISCAR, S.A., Ruta 8 Periférica, public bus Company.

How was your experience in your work site?

“In general I had  very good experiences.

The first week I had to translate the web page www.lapericr.com  from Spanish to German.

The following weeks I developed ideas for the distribution of information to customers. It was important that people would know and use the Peripheral bus route.

With the help of my ideas DISCAR is going to organize in the next days a special information day with booths and posters near important parks, and the university so that people can find information  about schedules, bus stops and general information on the Peripheral bus route around San José City.

Besides all these things, I also had to go over and analyze documents about  the environmental initiative in the European Union due to the fact that the company is seeking accreditation from the ISO 14001 norms.

Regarding this issue, I analyzed the possible destination of solid and toxic waste, and the way they would be processed. This was also very interesting for me because ISO is an international environmental norm which is also being implemented in Germany under the same conditions.”

Our program offers many possibilities for internships in the traditional and organic agriculture, as well as in the biological and environmental areas.
