Free Time Activities
The Free Time Activity Program is mainly designed to promote conversation among students of all levels with fun cultural activities. A very enthusiastic instructor is in charge of this program and organizes all activities.
Activities are announced a few days before they take place. A monthly calendar is also available and all students are welcome to participate, the only requirement is a desire to have fun and speak only Spanish while in it.
Free Time Activity Program Schedule
Monday
Orientation tour for new students around the Coronado area and film projection for “old” students.
Tuesday
Spanish movies or videos. Tropical Dance class twice a month. Also twice a month we have culinary and food tasting experiences which include:
- Tropical Fruit Class
- Vegetable Class
- Fruit Cocktail Class
- Costa Rican cooking lessons
- Fruit Class
- What do Costa Ricans eat?
- What do Caribbean Costa Ricans eat?
- Coffee afternoon
Wednesday
Club Deportivo Los Jaules Coronado - Sports Center (pools, basketball, fitness gym, soccer field, restautrant, cafeteria) 1,5 km from school. Entrance: USD 5. Otherwise, opt for 2 free classes in Latin American literature.
Thursday
Excursions to:
- “La Esperanza” organic farm, Coronado
- San José city tour
- Museum visits: Gold, Jade, Children's, National and Costa Rican Art
- Coffee, Banana, Pineapple and Cacao plantations
- INBio Parque: National Biodiversity Institute
- Heredia city and Barva tour, Heredia
- Poás and Irazú Volcanoes
- Orosi Valley & Ujarrás tour, Cartago
- Braulio Carrillo National Park
- Quitirrisí, indigenous community

Every other Thursday walking tour (hike) in the Coronado mountains. Participation is always optional.
